A Better Breast Implant?
The previous decision for Breast Augmentation patients in Indianapolis, IN, regarding whether to have silicone or saline breast implants may no longer be relevant. Indianapolis Plastic Surgery patients and others across the country may choose a combination silicone and saline implant in the future.
The clinical trials for this implant will begin this spring. Dr. Kimberly Short and 29 plastic surgeons across the United States met in January 2009 to review the update on these breast implants. The potential benefits of the implant include more central projection for patients who desire a larger size and adjustability for patients with asymmetric breasts or patients unsure of the breast enlargement they want to achieve. The implants can be adjusted both in surgery and after surgery depending on patient and surgeon preferences

“Best of both worlds?!” —An updated combination silicone and saline breast implant-
Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon Dr. Kimberly Short will begin clinical trials to evaluate a new silicone implant with an adjustable saline inner bladder (bag). The softness and natural look and feel of silicone with the adjustability of saline are combined in this breast implant. The ability of the surgeon to increase central projection with less change in base diameter of the breast implant may prove to be one of the advantages of this implant.
Dr. Kimberly Short was one of 29 surgeons in the country asked to be principal investigators for this exciting new implant.
