Planning the Surgery: Time off Work: You should plan to be off work for 5-7 days. If you combine liposuction to the abdomen with other areas of liposuction, then you should plan for 7-10 days. Caregiver: You will need a caregiver for the first 24-36 hours post-operatively. If you do not have someone to care for you, a nurse can be provided for a fee. The Day of Surgery: Small suction tubes (cannulas) are inserted through very short incisions placed in inconspicuous locations near the fat deposits, and excess fat is removed. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately 1.5 hours. After Surgery:
