Welcome

When should I consider a buttock lift?
  • Loss of skin elasticity of the hip and buttock area.
  • Skin area is saggy and has a flabby and/or dimpled appearance.
  • When skin is lifted manually, it appears more toned.
Anticipated Result:
  • A more pleasing and toned appearance to the lower half of the body (skin on thigh will be tighter).
  • A more flattering figure in clothing.
  • A noticeable improvement to the appearance of the skin surface irregularities.

The buttock lift procedure will remove excess skin of the buttock and hip area while repositioning the skin underneath the buttocks to create a smoother contour and a lifted buttock area.  The incision is located at the top of the buttock region where the incision is easily concealed with clothes or a swimsuit.

    Buttock Lift Examples:

These patients were ideal candidates for a buttock lift.  After significant weight loss, the patients developed excess skin to the lower back and buttock region.  Following the buttock lift, the contour and reduction in skin wrinkling and laxity in the buttock region is improved. The patients are pictured before and at 6 weeks following surgery.

Some patients elect to proceed with a tummy tuck and buttock lift together especially following significant weight loss.  This is referred to as a circumferential body lift.  Staging of the two procedures is also often recommended depending on the anatomy and the past medical history of the patient.  The patient pictured below proceeded with both procedures.  The patient is pictured before and 6 months after surgery.

Planning the Surgery:

Time off Work:

You should take at least 10-14 days off of work.  If combined with a tummy tuck, typically 2-3 weeks is recommended.

Caretaker:

You must have a caretaker for the first 24-48 hours after surgery.

The Day of Surgery:

The procedure is typically performed as an outpatient general anesthesia. The procedure typically takes 3 to 3.5 hours.
If a combined with a tummy tuck procedure, an overnight stay may be required for monitoring purposes.

After Surgery:

A compression garment is worn for six weeks after surgery to reduce swelling.  Light activity is possible within 7-10 days and will become more comfortable over 2-3 weeks.  Patients should refrain from vigorous activities for at least six weeks.

Additional Considerations:

An additional procedure that may enhance the result is combining this procedure with a tummy tuck; termed a circumferential body lift procedure.
