Welcome

Planning the Surgery:

Time off Work:

You should try to take approximately 7-14 days off work to allow for bruising and swelling to subside.  Pain is minimal.

Caregiver:

You will need someone to care for you for the first 24-36 hours after the procedure.

The Day of Surgery:

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis usually under general anesthesia.  The procedure take approximately 2-2.5 hours.

After Surgery:

You will return home with your head wrapped in a dressing, which is usually removed after the first day.  Depending on the incision that was used, the sutures/staples will be removed within 7-10 days after your surgery.  Most of the swelling and bruising has subsided by 10-14 days after your procedure.

Note:

It is important to address any concerns with Dr. Short at the time of your consultation.  There is some risk, as with any surgical procedure.  Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally.  Major complications are unusual.  Dr. Short can explain the procedure and potential complications to you in detail, and she can help you determine if a brow lift is right for you.
