Trying to achieve that perfect, well-defined brow? At the Gillian Institute, we provide a perfect solution: Microblading! Microblading for eyebrows will leave you with thick, ideal brows.

Many people’s natural eyebrows have to be sculpted or reapplied daily. Pencils never provide the flawless look we are going for. Microblading is a convenient, permanent solution for frustrating, high maintenance eyebrows! Improve your makeup routine and better frame your face with a microblading procedure at Indy Plastic Surgery today.

About Microblading

Microblading gives men and women ideal eyebrows that last up to a year or longer. This procedure uses a fine blade to make small, shallow cuts in the eyebrow area. Through these minuscule cuts, a pigment that matches your hair color will be introduced. Once completed, the small cuts will heal and appear similar to small eyebrow hairs. After about a week, you will be able to show off your new, fuller eyebrows.

This treatment is wonderful for both men and women who have thin, short or irregular eyebrows. A microblading procedure will help fill in your natural brows and make them appear fuller and more defined.

Your Consultation

You and your aesthetician will choose an appointment date and time that is convenient for you. In your private meeting with one of our skincare experts, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and describe your ideal aesthetic for your eyebrows. The aesthetician will listen and examine your brows. They will also ask about your skincare routine, current medications, past treatments, and general health. This information will help our staff determine if a microblading procedure is right for you. You’ll be walked through the details of the entire treatment.

This will include the eyebrow feathering technique that is implemented, potential risks, and the recovery period. Remember to ask lots of questions. We are here to help you and make sure you are confident in your aesthetic choices.

Preparation

Prior to your appointment, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you have a successful microblading session and recovery.

  • Do not take antihistamines or fish oil before your appointment.
  • It is also important to not have any facial treatments, waxing, or tanning performed up to two weeks before the microblading procedure.
  • You will not be able to get your eyebrows wet for up to ten days after the procedure.
  • On the morning of your appointment, take a shower and pull your hair back so it is not in your face.
  • Dress in clothes that can be removed easily without applying pressure to your face.

Procedure

Once completed, the eyebrows will be cleaned and a healing cream or product will be applied to ensure your eyebrows have a good recovery.

When you arrive at your appointment, your eyebrows will be cleaned and the aesthetician will create an eyebrow shape. They will then choose a color for your eyebrow and apply an anesthetic to make the procedure comfortable. Tiny, shallow cuts will be made along the eyebrow and pigment will be worked into them. The pigment will be left in the cuts for a little while to ensure maximum absorbency. The procedure will take up to two hours and will require an allergy test at least twenty-four hours before the appointment.

Recovery

After your procedure, you will need to avoid any practices that make you sweat. Sweating will dehydrate your skin and may irritate your eyebrows. You should also avoid professional and at-home facial treatments. This includes products with active ingredients. The tiny cuts will develop scabs and may be itchy as they heal. Do not itch or pick at the scabs as this may irritate the skin or interfere with its healing process. Makeup should not be worn for about a week. When you are cleaning your face, avoid getting water on your eyebrows. You will need to clean your eyebrows and apply a post-care moisturizer provided or recommended by your aesthetician.

These steps should be done with a cotton swab so as to avoid getting bacteria in the eyebrows. Once your eyebrows have healed, you will need to apply sunscreen with a high SPF to ensure your brow skin stays healthy and the pigment does not fade prematurely. It will take about a month for your eyebrows to fully heal. At this time, your aesthetician may suggest a touch-up. This appointment will allow the stylist to fill in any areas that need more volume or adjust the color of your eyebrows.

Results

Touch-up appointments will ensure long-lasting results.

You will immediately notice fuller, sculpted eyebrows. The color may appear bold at first but will fade within the first few days. If the color fades too much you can have it darkened at your touch-up appointment. This procedure is considered a permanent makeup treatment. Your brows will last for up to a year and a half, after which they will fade. This treatment will help shorten your makeup application and give you strong eyebrows when you are makeup-free! Enjoy the convenience of permanent eyebrows from our highly trained staff at the Gillian Institute!

Complementary Procedures

If you are interested in permanent cosmetics, you may be interested in dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are an excellent way to enhance your facial appearance in a minimally invasive way. The Gillian Institute offers a few different fillers to meet their client’s needs, these include:

HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS

These fillers have a hyaluronic acid base. Hyaluronic acid is a natural acid found in our body’s connective tissue and skin. It is a nourishing acid that attracts water. Fillers with a hyaluronic acid-base will feel natural and keep your skin hydrated. Hyaluronic acid will naturally interact with your body and be metabolized in a healthy way over time.

Juvederm Ultra

This filler is great for improving the appearance of smile lines and facial wrinkles. It is also an excellent way to improve the natural contours of the lips and make them appear more full.

Juvederm Ultra Plus

This anti-aging formula is great at reducing deep folds and wrinkles on the face. You’ll look younger in no time with Juvederm Ultra Plus!

Restylane

If you are concerned about moderate facial lines, Restylane may be an excellent solution. Restylane is ideal at reducing the appearance of folds and lines around the face. This filler may also be used to enhance the appearance of the lips.

Perlane

This formula is used similarly to Restylane however it consists of larger particles. Perlane is excellent at improving deeper folds and lines in the face. Perlane is able to improve volume at a deeper skin level, helping to reduce deep creases.

NON-HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS

Radiesse

This dermal filler has a creamy consistency and is composed of a gel formula that has calcium microspheres throughout it. These spheres add structure and help improve the fullness of the skin.

Bellafill

This is an FDA-approved filler that contains precision-filtered microspheres (PMMA), collagen gel, and lidocaine. Many fillers contain an anesthetic to help make treatment comfortable and simple. Bellafill is no exception: this smooth formula will help promote long-lasting results that reduce wrinkles and smooth the skin.

Dermal fillers are administered with a syringe and thin needle. Appointments last about twenty minutes and results are immediate. Enhance your eyebrows and sculpt the contours of your face with dermal fillers!

FAQs

CAN YOU WASH YOUR FACE AFTER MICROBLADING?

Yes, but you need to be very careful not to get your eyebrows wet. We recommend you do not wear makeup to your microblading session. Once completed, you can go home and use a moist towel to wipe down your face, but be careful to avoid the eyebrows as they will be sensitive after the procedure.

CAN I REVERSE MICROBLADING?

No. However you can speed up the process by which the ink fades. If you are unhappy with your microblading results, contact the aesthetician that performed the treatment. They will walk you through healthy steps to reduce pigmentation.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MICROBLADING SCABS TO FALL OFF?

Your skin may itch and flake for up to seven days. After the initial healing period, which is seven to ten days, scabs should be gone and your skin should be healed.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a form of permanent cosmetics that make your eyebrows fuller and better shaped. The procedure includes small, shallow cuts that are filled with pigment. As the cuts heal, the pigment will rest in your skin and appear like thin eyebrow hairs. Microblading improves the symmetry and aesthetics of the face. This simple procedure will help you have full eyebrows with or without makeup!
