No two people age the same, which is why no two fine line and wrinkle treatments should look the same. At the Gillian Institute in Indianapolis, Dr. Kimberly Short and her team offer a carefully curated range of surgical and nonsurgical treatments to address crow’s feet, forehead creases, and other common instances of fine lines at every stage.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon and Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, Dr. Short brings an artist’s eye and a surgeon’s precision to every treatment plan.

How Our Treatments Rejuvenate Your Skin

Some patients have one concern; many have several working together. The right approach depends on the underlying causes of your specific concerns.
Our treatments at The Gillian Institute address wrinkles and fine lines by:

  • Relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles like crow’s feet and forehead lines
  • Stimulating collagen production to thicken and firm aging skin
  • Resurfacing the skin’s outer layers to reduce texture irregularities and sun damage
  • Repositioning and tightening skin that has begun to sag due to volume loss or gravitational changes

Dr. Short takes the time to understand your anatomy, your goals and your lifestyle before recommending any treatment.

Your Wrinkle and Fine Line Treatment Options at The Gillian Institute

Surgical Options

Brow and Forehead Lift

Deep forehead creases and a heavy, drooping brow can make you look considerably older or more fatigued than you feel. A brow lift surgically repositions the soft tissues of the forehead and brow, smoothing horizontal lines and elevating brows that have dropped over time. Dr. Short tailors this procedure to your facial structure, using endoscopic or traditional techniques depending on what will produce the most natural, refreshed result. Recovery typically involves one to two weeks of downtime, with final results settling in over several months.

Nonsurgical Options

Botox®

One of the most well-evidenced cosmetic treatments in the world, Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Forehead lines, glabellar lines (the “11s” between the brows) and crow’s feet are among the most common areas treated. Results typically last three to four months. Dr. Short is a recognized national trainer for Botox through the National Education Foundation.

Dysport® & Xeomin® Letybo

Dysport and Xeomin are alternatives to Botox that work through the same mechanism but with slightly different formulations. Dysport tends to spread across a broader area, making it well-suited to larger areas like the forehead, while Xeomin contains no additives. Melissa Mahmoud, our Allergan-certified Injector Specialist, and Amber Aiman, our licensed Injector Specialist with 20+ years in plastics, both offer these treatments.

Bellafill®

For patients dealing with deeper lines (especially nasolabial folds), Bellafill provides a longer-lasting solution than traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. Bellafill contains polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres suspended in a collagen gel, which helps your body produce its own collagen around the microspheres over time. Bellafill is FDA-approved for up to five years of correction.

Laser Resurfacing With the Rohrer Phoenix CO2 Laser

Laser resurfacing with The Gillian Institute’s Rohrer Phoenix CO2 laser addresses fine lines, uneven skin texture and sun damage by delivering controlled energy to remove the outer layers of skin and stimulate collagen remodeling in the deeper layers. CO2 laser resurfacing is particularly effective for fine lines around the eyes and mouth that neuromodulators and fillers can’t fully address on their own. Downtime varies depending on the depth of treatment, typically ranging from five to 10 days.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

While IPL is primarily known for treating pigmentation and redness concerns, it can also make fine lines less apparent by boosting collagen activity. Our licensed aestheticians, Danette Waymire and Amber Aiman, administer IPL with a focus on sustainable, long-term skin maintenance that pairs well with complementary treatments.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Treatments

PRP therapy uses growth factors derived from your own blood to promote cellular regeneration and collagen production. Applied to the skin following microneedling or another resurfacing treatment, PRP can significantly enhance results by accelerating the skin’s healing response. According to research published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, PRP combined with microneedling demonstrates measurable improvements in “skin homogeneity”, which describes the evenness of skin color and texture across the face.

Microneedling (Décolleté Rejuvenation and Beyond)

As part of our décolleté rejuvenation services, microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin that stimulate the body’s natural healing process, prompting collagen and elastin production. It’s a versatile treatment that works well across the face, neck and chest, which often show early signs of aging.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 combines microneedling with fractional radiofrequency (RF) energy to remodel skin and underlying tissue. During treatment, very fine needles deliver RF energy directly into the dermis and subdermal layers, triggering a controlled healing response that stimulates collagen and elastin production from the inside out. It works especially well along the lower face, jawline and neck.

Ready for Effortlessly Smooth Skin?

Addressing wrinkles and fine lines is neither a one-time nor a one-size-fits-all process. The most effective treatment plan begins with a clear assessment of your baseline and expectations, and continues to evolve as your results come in and your skin changes over time. That conversation starts at a consultation with Dr. Short and her team.
